So at this point I feel like an absentee blogger… I can’t promise to pick it up any, but I will try my best… I just have a lot of things going on and my mind is distracted by the beauty of the world.

So I’ve started running during lunch… about 10 to 15 minutes, over a mile … on a normal day. Then I go to Tae Kwon Do at night Which has become almost a nightly event as I am testing for my Blue Belt White Stripe. On Saturday.

Also I am writing more of the story… that process has slow but I’m still writing.

My music and belly button gremlin are fun and I will be posting more of those. I hope that everyone at least enjoys them as much as I do.

Prose and Poetry, I need a little inspiration. I want a camera I can take pictures with, but is light and faster then my phone. But that’s another story for another time.

I need new running shoes as the ones I have are breaking down slowly but surely. I entered a contest to get free entery into a 5k…

Oh and speaking of competitions I have a TKD competition in May (I believe… lol) which I still don’t know if I’m competiting or might just volunteer at. hmm anyway I would really love to do the Sparring bit but don’t know with everything else… meh we’ll see how it goes.

anyway

catch ya all on the curb…

I got busy writing, I got busy working… meh excuses for not getting this out are many and varied but it’s here now so enjoy or drop out… 🙂

So with that said I bring you Orange County’s own “The Vandals”

These guys are hmm memorable in a catchy type of way, I think they were labeled as Punk Pop which is just wrong they were and would always be punk. They inspired a lot of other bands and definitely had a west coast style vs the east coast.

Interesting side note, Tenacious D’s Lead guitarist on the 2001 album is/was apart of this band… a friend of mine will like that fact I’m sure… they love T/D.

I just love listening to them… not much to go beyond that… so enjoy

Work has me taking on new tasks, it’s been a bit of a time consumption to say the least. But it’s alright it’s coming along as I learn. As per the usual I pick things up quickly… now just need to make it my own and get faster. As the commercial says faster is better… well at most things… sometimes slow is good too!!!

Other news, allergies plague me as the weather is deciding what it wants to do… rain, sun, cold, warm… blah Benadryl is my friend but it is just staving off the major attacks… the battle seem to be breathing, which is difficult anyway with a deviated septum. but meh who’s perfect? Yes me!!! well

The perfect ME… anyway maybe I’ll go run in the rain tonight… after tkd.

I’ve been on pintrest lately, looking for some motivational quotes and such… oh and at tattoo’d naked women. (homer simpson noise) oh sorry back to the program…

Oh I’ve been eating Nature Valley’s Granola Bars… the Oat and Honey ones… they are good, I like the fact that they grumble apart… but this has me really wanting to make my own granola bar… I might try that this weekend or next…

Speaking of TKD – my daughter is graduating this saturday from midget class to the normal kids class. Woohoo!! Think we might throw her a party.

What else is going on inside my head? I’d tell ya but well I don’t want to scare you off… 🙂

Seen any good porn? oh I mean movies lately? I watched Skyfall, loved the background story for the James Bond character, and the fact that it went away from the gadgets and more towards the Character development. Also and I know I’ll get yelled at for this but the move to M to the male actor was I believe a good thing. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that Moneypenny was in the field… from what I remember and maybe I’m wrong but she’s always been just a receptionist and never a field agent. But meh I’ll get over it, bring on the next Bond movie.

I’ll let you all go with a poem… enjoy the rest of your day rock and roll!

Simplistic

Time dances on the mind
Like a feather on the wind
Twisting through the weeds

Prognosis dim, the skies gray
Just lying on the beach
Bold? No need

Crouching down waiting
The prey comes slowly
As the day rolls on

Gentle laughter from the lips
The voice is heard

na na na na … be the ball
Just be… The ball

I got this little article off the Fleet Feet website… I found it very informative…

10 tips for buying running shoes.Buying Guidelines

1. When purchasing shoes, make sure you have plenty of time, and don’t rush. Buying the wrong shoes may play a role in the development of stress fractures.

2. Go to a specialty running shop where the staff members are experienced in fitting running shoes. It helps if they are runners, too.

3. Go later in the day when your feet are slightly larger to ensure you get a good fit.

4. Take your old shoes with you so the staff can look at wear patterns.

5. Wear appropriate clothing so you can try the shoes out properlly. A lot of shops now have treadmills to observe your gait.

6. Take your running socks with you. If you wear orthotics, take them along too.

7. Make sure the shoes are comfortable in the store. If they are not, they won’t be for running.

8. Don’t be swayed by appearances or brands. Try on several styles and brands.

9. Don’t go by what your friend wears as they may run completely differently from you.

10. Be prepared to invest. Shoes will last 300-500 miles, so it is worth spending more to get a decent pair, rather than opting for the bargain bin!

How should shoes fit?

The shoe should feel comfortable as soon as you put it on. There should be enough room in the toe box for you to wiggle the toes around, and you should be able to fit your index fing er between the longest toe – usually the big toe – and the end of the shoe. Some shoes are more rounded at the ends, while others taper off toward the little toe, so make sure the lateral side of the toe box doesn’t rub your toes.

There also needs to be sufficient width to accommodate the foot comfortably. Women often have a narrower heel but broader forefoot than men, and female-specific shoes take this into account. But if any shoe feels too tight across the foot, try a different brand, as they each have a silghtlly different fit.

The heel should be firm but not pinching, and you don’t want your heel to slip up and down inside the shoe. Make sure the heel tab at the top of the heel cup does not dig int your Achilles tendon. Walk around in the shoes and, if possible, try to run in them.

Running Well/Human Kinetics

By Sam Murphy & Sarah Connors

So I took yesterday off from work, and apparently the blog except for the story… so I’m going to make it up to you with two tracks. I’ll blame the Sounders for playing so terribly on their first home match. Nah I just got stuck feeling like crud at allergy issues and it was all I could do to pump out the story. On to the music

The first

Dropkick Murphys – Out of Our Head, this is from their new album Signed and Sealed in Blood.

I tend to listen to DKM at least once a day.  I love the style a Celtic Punk.  I started listening to them back when I heard it on a college radio station during my tenure at the University of Kentucky, Lexington.  I wanted to meet the individual chick that played it and thank her.  I even went to the station once, to do so and found out how hard it was to break into Radio.  I didn’t try that hard, just said tell her (I can’t remember her name) that I think it’s great she played the group.  Blah blah blah

Anyway I listen to them mostly when I just need a boost or when I’m feeling my roots as an Irish Bastage.   I’ll tend to inter-mix them with my next group

Flogging Molly – Swagger, I believe this is from their album Drunken Lullabies at least that’s the first time I heard it.  I know they have an album called Swagger but I don’t think the song is on it.

This is another Irish Punk band that I love to listen to… I found them through a DKM show I went to and they were playing… I think the first song I heard from them was Factory Girls.  I love the beat of the song and meh anyway before I get to deep and I have to go get a bottle of whiskey to drown my sorrows.

Basically this is how it used to go at times, a slide from DKM, another from FM, then a hit of Amazing Grace to really just bring me to a great big ball of fuck you pride and a weep for the ancestors past.  Then a shot of whatever is on the bar and a smile at the nearest girl weather she’s married or not… then a fight and then… well thank goodness I’ve settled down a little.

Please enjoy the music and I look forward to hearing from anyone if they have recommendations on what I should listen to or if they like or don’t like the groups.

Catch ya on the way to Dublin..

Oh what a morning, I always wake up before my alarm goes off… And I set myself to alarms as snooze buttons.

This morning was normal, I woke up about 5:30, but I could tell I was still tired, not sleepy just tired.  My alarm goes off at 5:45, I turn it off and just lay my head down, must have passed out for next thing I know my second alarm is going off… Its 10 minutes later and I’m groggy as a college chick that just got something special in her drink.

In my half stupor I get ready, hope I didn’t forget something and walk to the bus … It’s now 6:20 and I am attempting not to say fuck it to the day.  Because all I really want to do is go back to sleep… But I’m sure some barney would have half a coronary if I called in.

To top it all off my now I’m freaking hungry and all I want is an unhealthy breakfast of steak and eggs… With a side of toast and we cannot forget about the bacon, Fuck yea.  What will I have for breakfast?  Nothing so exciting or unhealthy I’m afraid; yogurt, granola, dried cranberries and some nuts.

Hey don’t bust on my …

Sorry seems I’m rambling on about jack dick all

You’re lucky you should hear my non-filtered thoughts today.  Murder, mayhem, sex, drugs, and more sex, woohoo… Johnny’s on a fuck it bender.

So what am I working on?

Running goal:    3 miles in less than 30 minutes
Tae Kwon Do:     Flexibility and stability
Blog:     Two things I would really like to get off the ground are product reviews and interviews.

Story?  Yeah I’m working on that too… it’s just well its difficult at the moment, I know it’s getting good, and the action is picking up… but the shiny object is ruining my concentration.

In product reviews I’m working on running apps for my android.
In interviews I’d really love a few different people but I need to work on question…

Ugh how do I do it?  Maybe that’s a question I should ask, “How do you concentrate on finishing a story?” All I want to do at times is look at the bright shiny objects, I don’t want to leave people in the learch waiting for a story.  That’s why I have the deadline… but I also don’t want to give everyone just a bunch of crap that a two year old could come up with.

Captain Cave Man!!!!!

Last night I was spent… Tae Kwon Do really kicked my butt… After concentrating for the past few weeks on my Poomses and such to get back to sparring class was a relief but also a real grind-house.  I was definitely dripping like… well I’ll leave that one to your imagination.

Scatter Boosh

Speaking of imagination… What sparks yours?  Meh what you have no imagination?  You are a what? A figment of my imagination?  So that’s why you’re bound an gagged… and I’m holding a paddle…

oh I’m going to call the ball on that one… good day folks…

Do I make you horny?

John

It’s hard to say when my weekends went from, personal expression of enjoyment to hey so and so is doing great.  Not that I don’t get some sort of satisfaction from watching Hotel Transylvania, but it’s not my go to ya feel me?

We went to the $2 theater as a family and I think the best commentary on the movie would be my daughter who decided about a 3rd of the way through she would rather grab a bite to eat then watch the rest of the movie.  We waited till after they got together, and then promptly left to miss traffic.

So I know I’m late to this one but the movie was okay, glad I didn’t pay full price to see it.  It had its comedic moments but really just a flop.

Again to remind me of whom I’ve become I guess, I picked up the movie Ted, hoping it would be funny.  But, this is definitely a stoner movie, and smokings bad mmmkay kids!

So when did I become the grumpy old man?  Meh who knows who cares… I enjoy it just need a lawn so I can tell the kids to get the hell off it.  Or turn on the sprinklers and flip them the bird… while doing Tai Chi to Dream a little Dream.  (oh teen angst movie with old people what?)

Beyond that we are thinking of entering my daughter into a board breaking competition.  She’s 5 and would enjoy the trophy but we are not sure she can break the boards yet… Eh who knows?

On a personal note I want to enter a 5k, there are quite a few coming up.  The only problem I see at the moment is my plate is full we have TKD competition coming up in May, not sure the specific date at the moment.  So right now that takes president over other things especially since I want to spar in it.  Then there is the next belt test which should be late April sometime.  The board breaking is next month.  So might have to wait for end of the year run or maybe next season.

I can run the 3.1 miles that’s not an issue really.  My times are getting better as well.  My last one was an 11:32, 10:50, 10:20.  My long term goal is to get into the high 9 minute mark with at least a 9:50 which might be slow but it’s an individual goal.  My other running goal is to one day do a 10k or a 10 mile race but not sure I want to put my body through that.  But that’s what the future is for to see how far I advanced.

Oh I need new running shoes, anyone have any good info on these?  I have basic cross trainers but they are breaking quickly, I read a little bit and I know that addias has a new shoe.  I also saw a road runner shoe but mostly I just get the hype… I want to know if anyone has any good vs bad thoughts on shoes?

Back to TKD tonight is sparring class, get ready to bounce.  I need to stretch; ugh it hurts in a good way.  Last night I could barely touch the ground… Blah muscles don’t want to go that far.

So this among other more boring chores was my weekend… Anyway…

On a last note I am catching up with the story for those that are reading it, I’ll likely have something today if you’re lucky.  It might be late, as I’ve got lots of notes but pulling it all together is taking a little time… Patrick and Jack will finally meet well kind of.

It’ll be interesting to see what people think… I want to hear from all of you!

John
